Get the SHA-512 checksum of a file
Some projects publish SHA-512 hashes. Drop the file to get its 128-character SHA-512, or paste the published one to check it.
How to do it
- Drop the file on the page.
- SHA-512 is chosen in Algorithm; choose SHA-384 there if you need that one.
- Choose Copy hash, or paste the published hash into Expected hash to compare.
Your files stay on this device: Checksum runs in your browser, with no upload, no account and no watermark.
Questions
Is SHA-512 safer than SHA-256?
Both are strong for checking files. Use whichever the publisher lists, so the two hashes can be compared.
How long is a SHA-512 hash?
128 hexadecimal characters. SHA-384 has 96 and SHA-256 has 64.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The hash is computed by your browser on your device.
