Excel (XLSX) to JSON converter
Turn a sheet into JSON for an app or an API: one object per row, with the column names as keys.
Accepts
Excel workbook (.xlsx), OpenDocument spreadsheet (.ods). Other file types are not converted on this page; the File convert hub takes every kind it knows.
How to convert
- The workbook is read by the same spreadsheet reader as Slop Tables. Formulas are not calculated: the value Excel saved with each formula is used.
- Numbers and true or false stay typed, dates become text such as 2026-10-24, and empty cells become null. Untick the column names option for an array per row.
Your files stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded: the conversion runs in your browser, and the file is never sent to Slopographic or to any other server.
Questions
What about several sheets?
Choose Every sheet: the JSON is one object with a key for each sheet name.
What if two columns have the same name?
The second gets a number (Price 2), and a column with no name is called Column 3 and so on.
Can I convert an old .xls file?
Not yet. Open it in Excel or LibreOffice and save it as .xlsx or .ods first; both are read here.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser, on this device. Your files are not sent to Slopographic or to any other server.
